Happy Thanksgiving!

We spent Thanksgiving this year at my dad's house up in New York. This was Lexi's first long drive in the car and while she did very well on the drive, the trip itself took a toll on her. The new environment was hard for her to adjust to. But for the most part I was proud of my little girl. We got up there on Tuesday so that I could say goodbye to my grandmother who was gravely ill. On Tuesday Alexis got to meet her Great Aunt Nancy when we went up to see my grandmother. Wednesday we spent hanging out with my dad. Thursday was Thanksgiving and we spent it watching football and eating a great dinner! Alexis actually took a nap at dinnertime allowing us to eat uninterrupted!!

Thursday morning we went and swung by my mom's house so that she could see Lexi for the first time. Unfortunately mom was sick so we were only able to show her Alexis from the car as none of us wanted Alexis to get sick! Mom will get to hold her granddaughter soon enough :)

Below are some great pictures we took from our trip to New York! Her cute outfit was actually a replacement for the Thanksgiving outfit I had originally bought her. We got 30 minutes down the road and I realized I had left it in the dryer at home. So we stopped at the Carter's outlet in Hershey to find her another one. I was so happy I was able to find her another one. Because I forgot her outfit, she also got to meet her 2nd cousin Katherine who lives in Hershey! That was very exciting! I was so happy to see Katherine too!

Lexi hanging out on the couch...looks like she is saying grace :)
3 generations of "Shedd's" --- well Lexi isn't legally a Shedd, but by blood she is :)

I think my dad really enjoyed seeing Alexis. He hadn't seen her since she was born! He was such a proud grandpa :)

2 Months Old...Where Did the Time Go!!!!

Well our baby girl is now 2 months old! Where has the time gone!?! She had her first set of shots last night during her 2 month check up. She did very well! As a matter of fact, she cried the worst when they were cleaning the area in preparation for the shots! What a goofy girl! When we got home we gave her some Tylenol to prevent any kind of fever/fussiness/discomfort she may have from the shots. She was such a big girl!

Alexis did very well at her check up. Dr. Sanusi said she was a wiggly baby! She weighed 11 pounds 2 ounces and is now 22 inches long!! She is growing so fast! Lexi was smiling and talking to Dr. Sanusi at the appointment...it was very cute! We also got a prescription for the Alimentum formula (hypo-allergenic) because of her milk protein sensitivity. Bad news is that this formula is like twice as expensive...but good news is that my insurance will cover it 100%!!! That is such a relief! So if all goes well, we don't have to go back to the doctor until January 20th...when she will be 4 months old!

Below are a couple of pictures I took the day before her 2 month birthday. She is getting so big! I have decided to use that bear as a reference for her "month birthday pictures." That is the bear that John got me from FAO Schwartz for my birthday a couple of years ago and I am passing it on to Lexi :)

In a week we are venturing to NY for the holidays. Alexis will get to meet her Grandmother (on my side) for the first time and will also get to see her Grandfather (on my side) again. She has not seen her Grandpa Shedd since the day she was born! I am sure she will enjoy her visits with her grandparents. This will be her 2nd big holiday since she was born. I already have a "baby's first thanksgiving" bib for her to wear. I want to get her a cute little outfit to wear for that day too!

After we return from NY we will be putting up our Christmas tree! I am sure Alexis will love the lights, especially since John puts a ton of them on the tree! I cannot wait to buy some presents for Alexis for Christmas. She won't remember it, but we will! I do need to get her stocking ordered before Christmas actually gets here!

8 Weeks Old!!!

This past Wednesday, Alexis turned 8 weeks old! I am still in disbelief that she is almost 2 months old. She is growing so much...both in size and personality! I swear with every passing day she gets more and more beautiful! She is doing very well. For the past week she has given us a good night's sleep. As a matter of fact, for the past 2 nights, she has slept through the night...going to sleep around 9 p.m. and not waking up until around 6 a.m.! What more could we ask for! It has definitely been a nice change.

Her evening screaming has also decreased, which has been a relief for both her and us! I think that the new medicine and the change in formula has made a difference. She is still a little fussy in the evening, as most babies are apparently, but it isn't the painful screaming that it use to be. We have begun to start a routine with her at night too which I think may be making a difference. I try to give her a bath around 7:00 p.m. which then allows for a final feeding around 8:00 p.m. This way she, and we, are in bed by around 9:00 p.m. This seems to be working and I think she is starting to get the idea that nighttime is for sleeping...not being awake! Below is a cute picture from her bath the other night that John took. She looks so sweet in this picture! She really LOVES her baths and only cries when she is taken out!
Tomorrow we are attempting a drive to York with her in preparation for making that long drive to New York for Thanksgiving! This will be a good test for her car riding abilities! I am sure she will do fine but it will be nice to test it out before our drive in 2 weeks. Monday she has her 2 month doctor visit and she will then get her first set of shots and we will find out how much she has grown! I would have to say she is about 11 pounds 9 ounces...that is my guess. We will see how far off I am when we get there :)

What a Big Girl!!!

Okay I just had to post this video!! We try to do tummy time once a day and this is our "reward" for doing it...she is able to hold her head up for an extended period of time at 7 weeks! I cannot believe how big my baby girl is getting!!!! I like this video because she looks like she is dancing to the music :)

7 Weeks...a little late :)

Well I am a little delayed on posting a "7 week" blog entry. With me going back to work last Monday, I haven't had the time I normally have to do an entry. Going back to work was a little rough, but I knew that Alexis was in good hands so that made it a little easier! She has a ton of fun now with my mother-in-law and John.

I cannot believe how big she has gotten. She is starting to smile a little more when you talk to and play with her. She has such the prettiest smile...it is so hard to catch in pictures right now though. Last week we had to take her to the pediatrician again because of her not wanting to eat. They now have her on Prevacid in the morning and Zantac in the afternoon. We also had to switch her formula to a hypoallergenic formula. Knock on wood...the past 3 days her sleeping and eating has improved. Let's hope this does this trick. I hate to think of my poor little girl in pain! But on a good note...she is now 11 pounds!!! That is so insane! She is growing so much.

This past weekend Lexi and I played on her activity mat for about an hour! She was so in to the colors and lights on the mat! She is starting to "talk" a little too while she is playing on the mat. I think right now that is her favorite toy. Here are some pictures from her adventures on the mat.
On Friday John plays basketball at my school and I end up bringing Alexis to the school with me and then John takes her back home. Before we left, Lexi had some good swinging time in her swing! She is starting to like it more and more. I love the outfit she has on...it is a 3 month outfit! Just a random picture I wanted to include :) She is lying in her boppy lounger...which she didn't like at first but is warming up to it now! :)
Here is a short video of her time on her playmat. If you listen carefully, you can hear her "talking."
