Raspberries and Rolling Over!

Lexi has discovered that blowing raspberries...especially while eating cereal or baby food...is a lot of fun! She does it constantly...and it is accompanied by TONS of drool!!

Another thing Lexi has finally accomplished is rolling over from her back to her tummy! She did it for the first time this past Saturday! She has been rolling from her tummy to her back for about 2 weeks now. So now she goes both directions!

Happy 5 Months Lexi!!

I know I say this every month...but I can't believe she is 5 months old already!!! My little girl is growing up. She loves to sit more often now...with the help of us or her Bumbo of course. She can sit for a few seconds on her own but then she topples to the ground :) It is hard to believe that in just a little while she could be sitting on her own!

We saw the GI Specialist for the first time this past Monday and he says she is doing great. He wants to see us back in about 2 months to see how she is doing and talk about possibly having her go off her reflux medication!!! That is such great news! He also gave us the go ahead to start her on some yellow fruits and veggies. So we have now done 3 days of sweet potatoes and overall she takes them very well. This Saturday I will introduce her to squash!

She is such a sweet little girl. Just in the past couple of weeks I have seen such a huge difference in her fussiness and just overall happiness! She has such a big smile and LOVES to watch this show called "Word World" that daddy found for her!

Here are some of her pictures I took on her 5 month birthday :) My girl is getting so big!!

The Best Valentines Day Present Ever

Although Alexis came to us 5 months ago, I still consider her the best Valentine's Day present ever! She is such a joy in my life. I was lucky enough to spend last week with her while schools were closed due to snow! It was the best week in a long time! I love my daughter with all my heart. The thumb sucking you see in the above picture is something new! She doesn't do it all the time. She just started a few days ago...which was also when I noticed that her first tooth is coming in! There is a hole in the gum where you can see it starting to poke through!!!! So I think the thumb sucking is related to that. It is quite sweet looking though :)

Mini Photo Shoot

Lexi and I played around with my new camera today and did a mini photo shoot at home! They turned out pretty cute :) Here are 4 of my favorite pics! I want to take some more of these with some of my favorite outfits of hers. :)

Crib Sleeping

Well Lexi has been in her crib for a little over 2 weeks now and I think she is adjusting well. She takes her naps in there as well. We also made the decision to have her sleep on her tummy. She hated being swaddled and sleeping on her back so we figured we would give tummy sleeping a shot. She seems to like it much better...but the new found freedom tends to wake her up a little. But she is getting better. This past week I have been off for snow days...yes the entire week! It has been really awesome to spend all this time with Lexi :) She has been so much fun! We have had lots of play time and I have gotten her to take some great naps. We have also been having regular snacks of rice cereal. She is doing much better at opening her mouth when the spoon comes near her mouth. Next week she gets to start on oatmeal! Hopefully she likes that better. Then in a month...fruits and veggies!!!!!! :)

Sophie the Giraffe

I recently purchased "Sophie the Giraffe" for Lexi through Amazon. This aparently is the best teether out there...it better be since I paid $16.00 for it! Lexi has been teething and I have given her teething rings and she doesn't seem to enjoy them all that much. So I broke down and bought Sophie. Well let me tell you...she absolutely LOVES Sophie! She chews on her head, her neck, her feet...basically any part she can get in her mouth!
I am so happy that she really took to Sophie. I was willing to pay the $16 if it made her feel a little better! I just want those teeth to come through so that she won't be in so much pain anymore!

Lexi has FINALLY rolled over!!! She rolled from her tummy to her back about a dozen times within the past week! Yay for another milestone hit! Now we are working on rolling from our back to our tummy. She is so close to doing that!

Lately Lexi has been "talking" up a storm! She just babbles all day! It is so adorable. Another thing she is starting to enjoy is her baths! I give her one every night before her last bottle. We get a bath then a massage and then I read her a book or sing her songs on her changing table. She seems to really enjoy this routine. In the bath she has learned that if she kicks her legs they splash in the water! We call it "spashing" and she just giggles!

Feel Like a Bad Mommy...

Well about 25 minutes ago I did something that all the doctors say not to do...I put Lexi on her tummy to sleep. I feel like she hates swaddling, but won't sleep on her back without swaddling due to the startle reflex. So I was talking to other mommies and they suggested her tummy. Lexi has good neck and head control so she might actually like sleeping on her tummy. So I thought I would give it a shot for her naps today. I feel like a bad mommy for doing it because it is against all recommendations...but we are going on 25 mins now and she hasn't stirred at all. And because she hasn't stirred...I have been up there like 3 times to check on her.

Playtime With Daddy and a Move Back to Her Crib

Lexi and her daddy have been getting in tons of playtime while I am at work and it shows how happy he makes her! She is ALWAYS smiling at him when he talks to her or plays with her. She is truly daddys little girl. Her face just lights up when she sees him. It is so adorable. This past weekend he had her on his belly while he was lying down and she was just full of smiles and giggles! This past weekend she was just full of smiles no matter what she was doing. I caught her with a few smiles as she was playing on her play mat. She doesn't last long on the play mat anymore because she enjoys sitting up and playing with her rattles and watching whatever is on tv. But she still manages to play on it for a few minutes at a time. Especially if you play her little boom box...which she LOVES!! Thanks Aunt Courtney :)This past Friday we made the decision to move her back to her crib. We were excited to get our room back, but also sad to not have her there with us at night. We expected it to be a hard process and that we would be up most of the night for a while. But, knock on wood, she has proven us wrong. Last night for instance she went to bed at 7:30 p.m. and stirred around 9:45 p.m. (John went in and gave her paci back to her) and then didn't wake up until 2:50 a.m. to eat (she never really cried though...but wimpered so we knew it was time to eat). Then went back to sleep around 3:25 a.m. and slept until 6:30 a.m. So we only had to go in once to comfort her...not too bad!!! So hopefully the trend keeps up. That would be nice if the transition goes easy :) I do miss her not being next to me but it IS really nice to be able to read a little in bed after she goes to sleep.
