First Trip to the Emergency Room

Yesterday Lexi had her first trip to the Emergency Room. We took her to the doctor after she had thrown up several times throughout the day. She wasn't running a fever but it still worried us. So we took her in and they checked her out. The doctor decided to send us to the ER to get an x-ray done to check for a blockage. So off we went!

Once we got there they checked us in to an exam room (our doctor called them to tell them we were on our way) and we waited to be seen. She was so very upset and cried/screamed the whole time. Once the doctor examined her and called for an x-ray, they said we could give her a bottle...at this point she was about an hour and a half overdue! Once we fed her, she was much calmer...as you can see by the pictures below:

Then they came for us for her x-ray. I thought for sure she was going to SCREAM through the whole x-ray, but she didn't! She was such a big girl...even with mommy and daddy on each side of her holding her arms and legs. I was so very impressed with her! And they had to do 2 different x-rays too...and she was a big girl for both of them!!!

We then headed back to our room and waited for our report of the x-ray. The doctor came in and said that the x-ray was clear. No blockage and her GI tract looked great. That was great news!!! We discussed doing bloodwork, but decided to hold off as she was not running a fever. The doctor believes that the reason she has been throwing up is because she is swallowing a ton of the mucus from her cold and it has no where to go but up. Which makes sense since the vommit is very mucuslike.

So overall our first visit to the ER went very well. She was a big girl and the end result was great! She came home and took her nighttime bottle and then went straight to sleep! She was exhausted!

Lexi's First BIG Snow!!

Yesterday Lexi experienced her first BIG snow storm! As a matter of fact...so did I! This was the biggest storm we have had since I moved here! We had about 24 inches by the time it was all over! The three of us just enjoyed the warmness of our home and watched the snow fall from inside! Good news is that this will be around for Christmas so Lexi's first Christmas will be a white one!

We didn't want to take her outside for pictures so we went to our sliding glass door and took some there instead. We figured she is still too little to be outside :)
John had to shovel our driveway 3 times throughout the whole storm! It was crazy! I am sure glad I have him around to do those types of things :) Below you can see how much snow we got! The first 3 pictures are from yesterday and the last 2 are from this morning.
Such an insane amount of snow! The good news is that I got Monday and Tuesday off from work! So now I am officially on winter break! I guess I ended up with 2 weeks off after all :)

Photo Shoot

The photographer that did Lexi's photo shoot sent me a few pictures yesterday to give me an idea of how they turned out! I had to share a few of them. I should get the rest of them soon! She is so absolutely beautiful! I am such a happy mommy! :)

Happy 3 Months Alexis!!!

HAPPY 3 MONTH BIRTHDAY ALEXIS!!!!
Today Alexis turns 3 months old! I started her day by singing "Happy Birthday" to her! I cannot believe that she is 3 months old. She is starting to smile more...especially in the morning. She smiles a lot when you sit down on the floor with her when she is in the swing. She also likes to ride in the converible car seat and tends to smile a lot in that! She is starting to "talk" more and more everyday. It is so cute because what sounds like she might start to cry is actually her talking...or screaming! :) She loves watching tv with her daddy and me.

Her eating seems to be increasing a little which is a good sign. They increased her Prevacid and her Zantac and that seems to be helping with her reflux. I really hope she grows out of the reflux so that she doesn't need to keep taking the medication. Right now she has a little cold that she caught from mommy. So we run the humidifier and put Vick's baby rub on her at night. Poor little girl! She is a trooper though...still sleeping good at night even with the cold.

I cannot believe she is at most 3 months away from starting to eat baby food!!!! I cannot wait! This means we need to look at getting a high chair for her soon! I am so very excited about that new adventure!

Lexi is enjoying "sitting up" now too. I let her sit in my lap on on the couch next to me and she seems to enjoy the new view! Here is a picture of her sitting on the couch by herself:
She looks very happy to be seeing things from a different perspective. I even have her sit up for a little bit on her changing table and enjoy that view of her room. She really gets a kick out of that! I want to try to get her to sit in her Bumbo a little more so she can work on her upper body and neck muscles! I can't wait until she can sit up and play with toys.

This past weekend Lexi had her first photo shoot! I cannot wait to see the pictures. We should have them by the end of this weekend. She had on the cutest little dress! She did really well and only really cried during the last 5 minutes! She even gave the photographer a few smiles at the very beginning!

Here are some pictures I took this morning for her 3 month birthday! She is sitting in daddy's recliner. She looks sooooo small in the recliner!

A Smile for Daddy

John says he has been having a hard time getting Lexi to smile at him...however, yesterday John got her to not only smile for him, but he also caught it on camera!!! Her smile is so sweet!

Blurry Pics...Too Adorable Not to Share!

Last Sunday we decided to try Lexi out in her Baby Einstein Stationary Entertainer for a few minutes. She seemed to really enjoy it. We had to put it on the lowest setting and even had to put a book underneath so that her little legs could reach something instead of dangle! We took a few pictures, but she moves around so much that they ended up a little blurry :( But I had to share them anyway because they were so darn cute!!!!That last picture is the ONLY really big smile picture we have managed to get of Lexi so far! I am just not camera ready when she is smiling! So I have to say that I absolutely LOVE that picture...even if it is a little blurry!

Feeling Blessed...

Today I am feeling truly blessed for my daughter. Sometimes that is hard when she is in the middle of a screaming fit or when you don't get a good nights sleep. But then I remember what we went through to get her here and the fact that there are probably so many people out there who would LOVE to be in our situation with a screaming baby but can't. Alexis brings me so much joy. Her smile melts my heart. Her cute little noises and her precious toes just bring me such joy. I find myself thinking of her all the time and wishing I could cuddle with her while I am at work. Holding her just makes me so happy. I feel so lucky to have her in my life and while some days are better than others, I couldn't imagine not having her there with me. I hope that I can give her the love she needs to be a strong girl one day. I hope that she knows how much I love her.I love you baby girl...you are the bright spot in my world!
