Nursery in Progress!!

Well John has finished the first coat of paint on Alexis' nursery! It was originally pink (from the previous owners) and we changed the paint color to a shade of light purple. It looks absolutely amazing! John did an amazing job on the first coat. Here are some pictures of the work in progress:

He will do the second coat on Saturday and then probably do the baseboards on Sunday or Monday...depending on when the walls are dry enough. Then we can put the furniture where it needs to go and start loading her bookcase! We are ordering her dresser/changing table on Friday since I have a 15% off coupon that starts on Friday! Then once John's dad can come down and visit, they will put the border on the wall that matches her bedding! And we also have the wall apliques that will go on the wall as well. I will put a few on the wall...I don't want to over do it! I also have to get her letters for her name that Dana is working on for her :) Her nursery is going to be adorable when it is done!! :)

Another New Hat for Our Little Girl...

Well I have finally finished the purple and white striped hat for our little girl. I was just being lazy :) Here is the finished product:I am going to make her another one with the pink yarn that I had delivered from AC Moore (thank goodness for online shopping). I am excited to use something other than a solid color yarn for a project! This new yarn is various shades of pink, purple, and white (variegated).

Here is another project I have been working on her for about 5 months...it is taking a lot longer than I anticipated! It is hard to work on this lying down :) The first picture is the completed cross-stitch pattern (obviously ours will have a different name, date, and weight). The second picture is how much I have completed. I am getting there :) This next weekend, Alexis' room is getting painted and I am super excited! We have the paint and supplies...now it just needs to go on to the walls! It will be so nice to get that room put together. We do still need to buy a dresser and a mattress...especially since she now has a ton of clothes that people have given her. I have found the mattress I want, now I just need to send John out to buy it. Maybe in a couple of weeks I will send him out there to do that :) I also need to wash the clothes that we bought for her still.

My good friend from high school, Tammy, was in town late last week and brought her tons of clothes that her daughters used. She also went to Babies R Us and bought Alexis a TON of stuff!! I can't believe all the stuff she bought her. She now has rattles, a sippy cup with her name on it, some books, teethers, waterproof pads for her crib, wall appliques for her wall, and some other stuff! Tammy spoiled her!

I am sure Alexis is bound to get spoiled again here in 2 weeks. My shower is coming up and I am getting really excited. I can't wait to see all the family and friends who are able to make it. It is going to be a lot of fun :)

Our Little Chunker!!

Well today was our appointment with the high risk doctor. We are officially 29 weeks today! I can't believe we are in our last week of the "20's!" Seems kind of surreal. Can't believe in about 10 weeks we will be caring for a little one! The appointment went really well. This is like 3 good appointments in a row. Has to be a record for us! They did measurements of both Alexis and her amniotic fluid and everything looked great! As a matter of fact, she is now measuring at 3 pounds 8 ounces! She is HUGE! In 2 weeks she has gained about 1 pound 2 ounces. Her current weight is the average weight for a 31-32 weeks baby! You know it is bad when the doctor calls her a chunker. I am so glad that she is growing well...however at this rate she is going to be like 10 pounds! She can't be bigger than 7 pounds because I have all this cute newborn stuff I want her to be able to wear :)

So our next appointments are in 14 days with my regular OB and then on August 18th with the high risk doctor. I definitely enjoyed getting out of the house today. It made sitting on the couch for the majority of the day a lot more tolerable. I do have a new ultrasound picture and will hopefully post it this weekend once we get it scanned. I find that it is harder to see features now compared to earlier. Guess she is just getting too big! :)

New Belly Shot!

Well we officially hit 28 weeks yesterday! Welcome to the third trimester! So nice, yet kind of scary, to be in the home stretch. It seems like just yesterday we found out we were pregnant...and now we are almost to the end. Our baby girl is doing great. She is really active! So much so that it is almost nauseating! But I guess you have to take the bad with the good :)

When the doctor measured Alexis via ultrasound about a week ago she was weighing in at 2 pounds 6 ounces which is actually a week and a half ahead of average! So that is really good. We go back to the high risk doctor this coming Friday to get her measured again to see how much she has grown. I am guessing she will be close to, if not, 3 pounds on Friday. I can't believe something so small can cause so much movement! That's my little gymnast for you!

Well I will end with 2 new belly shots. They were taken this morning (28 weeks 1 day pregnant). There is definitely a baby in there! :)
I will post another update on Friday once we see the high risk doctor! I might post another one before that because I am close to finishing Alexis' purple and white stripped hat!

28 Week Appt --- Finally Some Good News!

Well today I had my 28 week appointment with my regular OB. For once, this appointment actually went WELL! Dr. Patel checked my blood pressure, the heartrate of the baby (143 bpm), and then measured my belly. All was good. She then said that once the pessary comes out (around 33 to 35 weeks) and if Alexis is growing well...she sees no reason why I can't go off bedrest!!! Yeah!!! Obviously nothing too strenuous, but I could get up and walk around and maybe go out to dinner. She said more than likely I will probably only feel like getting up for a couple of hours and then will probably want to rest for a couple of hours and she doesn't see this situation as being an issue. I would not be allowed to go back to work but I would get some of my freedom back! That would be so amazing.

So with that being said...the due date is still October 2nd...and they would just let her come when she is ready. :) They would just try to have me carry her as close to 40 weeks as possible. I told her I would carry her as long as she wanted to stay in if I was getting off bedrest in the next 5-7 weeks :) So for once...good news!! The good thing is we made it over the hurdle of 28 weeks (well that is actually this Friday, but same thing). Such a good day!

At least now I have some light at the end of the tunnel. I have some exciting things coming up soon which will help the weeks past by faster. Next Wednesday my friend Tammy is coming out to visit for a couple of days. Then on the 30th, my sister Cristina is coming out for about 5 days for my shower! On August 1st is my shower! So then maybe 2-4 weeks after that I will be able to go out to eat with my husband!!!! That would be so nice!! Today was a good day...let's just hope things stay that way!

Friday starts the 3rd trimester! Let the countdown begin!!!!

Another Week Gone By

Well we have officially made it to 27 weeks! One more week and we will have made it to our next milestone. It has been great to think of this pregnancy in "milestones" especially with me just sitting here all day for the past 12 weeks. It is hard to believe that 3 weeks ago we were sitting in Labor and Delivery thinking that Alexis could arrive at any day. And although she can still arrive at any day...making it 3 more weeks definitely has felt really good! It just goes to show that bedrest, the pessary, and the medicines really have helped. She is holding tight and growing more and more every day!

Alexis has been very active which is really good. She loves to kick me and sit on my bladder. And as annoying as the whole sitting on my bladder thing can be...I am loving every minute of it. It just means she is still in my belly growing strong! I have been working on knitting little hats for our little girl recently. I am using leftover yarn from the blankets I have made. I made a solid purple one and now decided to get creative and am making a purple and white striped one. I have never made hats before nor have I ever used double pointed needles before so this was quite the adventure!! Here is what it looks like:

I have ordered some new colorful yarn from AC Moore online (because I can't go there and pick some out in person). The new yarn will make really pretty colorful hats! I cannot wait for it to arrive! Alexis will have the warmest little head in Virginia :) And she will be cute too!

So it is hard to believe that we will have a little girl in 10 weeks or less! In 70 days we will have a crying, pooping, sleeping little girl in this house. It is so amazing and scary all at the same time. Being a first time mom I am a little scared...but I am excited at the same time. I cannot wait to hold her in my arms. I cannot wait to see who she looks like...what color eyes she will have...what color her hair is. Let the countdown begin!!!!

Alexis' Little Protector

Well Jingles has decided that her new favorite thing to do is lie on my lap near the belly or to actually lie on the belly! And it is so funny because when she does it and she starts to purr, Alexis reacts to it! She starts moving and kicking around. It is soooo cute. Yesterday, Jingles put her little paw on my belly as she slept as if to say "I will take care of you." It was soooo cute! They will be great buddies...I can just feel it :)
